It’s 2023 and Orion Governance is Hopping To It

A look ahead from Orion’s CMO

Sunday, January 22 marked the beginning of a new lunar year, the Year of the Rabbit. It’s one of my favorite holidays aside from Christmas. As a child, my favorite part of celebrating Chinese New Year was receiving many “red envelopes” (small monetary gifts for children) from family and my parents’ close friends. As an adult, I look forward to the delicious feasts; and on occasion, baking the same “nian gao” (sweet rice cake) from a recipe passed down from my mom.

So, here’s my offer to you:

According to the Chinese horoscope, the rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. Let me highlight a few reasons why I’m sure it will be an auspicious one as we continue to build on Orion Governance’s 2022 success.

Industry Awards and Recognition

Delivering solutions that solve real problems fuels our creativity and drives our passion. When our team’s hard work is recognized, we’re truly grateful. We ended last year with a record number of industry awards and recognitions. The most recent one was on December 1. We accepted the award for the Best Graph Database Solution for Data Management by the A-Team Group at the Data Management Insight Europe Awards 2022 ceremony in London. The December issue of CDO Magazine also featured our founder/CEO Ramesh Shurma in its Global Data Founder List for 2022.

Not to be complacent, we are honored that Orion has been nominated for the 2023 Product Awards by Products That Counts. Also up is the 2023 Data Breakthrough Award. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

We believe these industry recognitions will alert the data management professionals we hope to serve about the efficacy of the Orion Enterprise Information Intelligence Graph (EIIG) platform. It’s the premier solution for extracting value from their enterprise data assets.

Solving Retailer’s Unified Commerce Data Challenges

We kicked off the new year by attending the NRF 2023 Retailer’s Big Show in New York. What a show it was. Over 35,000 individuals registered from 98 countries and 7800 brands were present. This was the first time Orion participated. We hosted a booth in the startup pavilion where we met several potential partners and prospects ranging from Blue Yonder to Pepsico to discuss how EIIG can help retailers overcome their unified commerce data challenges.

The retail industry is an important vertical for Orion because Retail represents our nation’s largest private-sector employer, contributing $3.9 trillion to annual GDP and supporting one in four U.S. jobs – 52 million working Americans, according to NRF. We believe there’s a huge need for a data management solution like EIIG to help retailers unlock the value of their data assets.

More Tradeshows, Conferences and Events in 2023

Next on Orion’s tradeshow schedule is Gartner Data & Analytics in Orlando in March. We will host a booth, and our very own Ramesh Shurma will present a talk on “Data Fabric – How to Provide Trust in Reporting”. On April 19 we’ll present Orion EIIG (named #1 Vendor in Dresner Advisory Services 2022 Data Catalog Report) at DATAVERSITY Demo Day – Data Catalog Tools. And in May, we will fly across the pond to participate in the Gartner Data & Analytics Conference in London.

Growing Orion’s Partner Ecosystem

Much of Orion’s 2022 success was due to the growth of our channel partners. This includes:

• Partnering with Qlik to help enterprise customers solve their most complex data challenges. Orion integrated our EIIG platform to enable Qlik users to see key data metrics such as quality score, value score, and trust score right in their Qlik apps. Users can dive into the EIIG platform to see data lineage and obtain insights by leveraging metadata analytics such as impact analysis. EIIG’s Qlik extension also delivers augmented data quality and allows users to tag all PII data assets right in Qlik apps for data privacy and regulatory compliance.

• Joining forces with Snowflake’s Professional Services. This partnership will integrate Orion’s EIIG solution with Snowflake to help enterprises tackle their most challenging data migration problems. Orion’s EIIG platform enables organizations to gain visibility into complex legacy environments such as mainframes and AS/400 to help with Snowflake Migration Readiness Assessment and implementation.

• Teaming up with Diextra as an Orion value-added reseller to increase EIIG’s footprint in the Caribbean and beyond. Diextra has a deep knowledge of their local market and strong technical capabilities to help companies and government entities to manage, integrate, analyze and govern the use of their data in an agile and cost-effective way.

• Working with LegionTech, our reseller in China to accelerate Hongta’s data governance program. Hongta Tobacco Group is the largest tobacco group in China, founded in 1953. When Hongta Group started implementing its data governance program, it quickly discovered that its data governance solution didn’t support automatic metadata extraction. As a result, the project team expended a tremendous effort to manually interpret database schemas and application logic to populate the data catalog. Once LegionTech introduced and implemented Orion’s EIIG solution, Hongta Group was able to easily complete its enterprise data catalog in a couple of weeks.
